Complimentary Therapy

Life Works offers a holistic treatment programme and encourages clients to take part in a range of complimentary therapies to help each individual re-connect with themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.

Julie Gates – Shiatsu

Julie is Life Works' Shiatsu Therapist, Masseuse and Music Workshop Facilitator. She qualified with the British School of Shiatsu and was trained in Massage by Claire Maxwell Hudson. Julie has been working in the Mental Health field for 20 years and has worked in several Addiction Rehabilitation Centres as well as working with professional athletes. Julie has worked at Life Works for over three years and teaches the shiatsu, stretch and relaxation group, which incorporates acupressure, Qi Gong and meditation techniques to encourage natural relaxation. During her career, Julie has had several articles published including titles 'How Shiatsu-do helps Recovery from Addiction' and 'Shiatsu Shifts Defensiveness' and Meditation CDs. Continuous Professional Development courses include 'Who is at risk of suicide?', 'CBT in Anger Management', 'Use of Psychotherapy in a Clinical Setting' and 'Grief Counselling'.
