Life Works has assembled a team of leading international addiction, family and mental health experts to assist in the design and implementation of the Life Works Clinical Programme.

Terence T. Gorski is the Primary Clinical Consultant to Life Works and has over 30 years experience in the field of addiction treatment, having received international acclaim as a pioneer in the development of Relapse Prevention Therapy. He has designed the Life Works Chemical Dependency and Relapse Prevention Programmes. Considered a leader and authority in the behavioural health and social services industry, Mr Gorski's greatest talent is in his ability to break down the relapse prevention process into clear and simple steps using a variety of therapeutic techniques.
Mr. Gorski's articles and books have been published worldwide and is best known for his books, Staying Sober: A Guide for Relapse Prevention, The Staying Sober Workbook, and Passages Through Recovery: An Action Plan for Preventing Relapse. He also published the three-part series, Relapse Prevention Therapy With Chemically Dependent Criminal Offenders: Part 1, An Executive Briefing; Part 2, A Guide For Counsellors; and Part 3, The Relapse Prevention Workbook for the Criminal Offender.

David F. O'Connell is a Clinical Consultant to Life Works and has over 20 years experience of working in addictions treatment and the delivery of mental health services. His areas of expertise include: dual diagnosis, addiction in executives and professionals, the impaired healthcare professional, cognitive addiction therapy and spirituality and recovery. He has helped design the Life Works Impaired Professionals and Dual Diagnosis Programmes.
As Attending Psychologist and former Clinical Director at the Caron Foundation, USA, he is responsible for Caron's executive/professional health and recovery programmes. Dr. O'Connell holds a Ph.D. in psychology with a concentration in organisational behaviour, group dynamics and counselling from Temple University, USA. He is a licensed psychologist and is board certified as a diplomat of the American Academy of Psychologists Treating Addictions. Dr. O'Connell is the author of numerous books on chemical dependency treatment. He is an adjunct professor in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University.

David Rosenker is Executive Vice President of Treatment Services for the Caron Foundation in the US, and is responsible for the overall management of Caron's residential treatment services. With over 25 years experience in the field of chemical dependency, Mr. Rosenker has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in specific areas of adolescent and adult treatment, adolescent development, family education, student assistance, youth tobacco cessation as well as other prevention and treatment models. During his tenure at Caron, he has designed and implemented numerous community and professional training programmes and has refined customer service methods. Mr. Rosenker has and continues to serve as a spokesperson to national media on the subject of adolescent substance abuse and addiction. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from California Coast University, with continuing education specialising in chemical dependency from the University of Minnesota.

Deanne Jade is the Founder and Principal of The National Centre for Eating Disorders. She is a corresponding member of the Division of Clinical Psychology, and their Faculty for Eating Disorders, the National Obesity Forum, International Association for the Study of Obesity, British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and the European Health Psychology Society.
The NCFED was founded in 1984, providing the UK’s first independent out-patient service specifically for the treatment of eating disorders. The Service grew rapidly as a result of media focus on eating problems, and now has a network of over 100 affiliated practitioners providing personal, telephone, and email counselling together with self help programmes for clients and carers.

Dr. Brenda M Schaeffer is a Clinical Consultant to Life Works. Dr. Schaeffer is an internationally known author, experienced therapist and speaker. Brenda Schaeffer has been a featured writer in several magazines. She is author of newly released Love's Way, the best seller, Is It Love or Is It Addiction?, Loving Me Loving You, Signs of Healthy Love, Signs of Addictive Love, Power Plays, and Helping Yourself Out of Love Addiction.
Dr. Schaeffer is a licensed psychologist and a certified addictions specialist in the area of sexual addictions. With over 500,000 of her publications in print, she has already helped thousands of people understand the difference between healthy love and love addiction, drawing from her own experiences and many years of work as a psychotherapist.
Dr. Schaeffer is currently the Director of Healthy Relationships, Inc. and has had expert training in hypnosis, developmental psychology, transactional analysis, gestalt, and sexual addiction, existential and transpersonal psychology.

Dr. Robert J. Ackerman is a Clinical Consultant to Life Works and has over 25 years experience of working in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. He has helped design the Life Works Family Programme. Currently, he is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Mid-Atlantic Addiction Training Institute at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA and is a co-founder of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics.
A widely published author, Dr Ackerman is best known for writing the first book in the United States on children of alcoholics in 1978. Twelve books, and numerous expert public appearances later, he has become internationally known for his work with families and children of all ages.
Dr Ackerman has served on many advisory boards and has worked with the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse, and the U.S. Department of Education. He served on the White House Task Force on Resiliency and Governor's Task Forces in Colorado and Michigan.

Michael Alvarez is the Consultant Clinical Director at Life Works and has been a Californian licensed Marriage and Family Counsellor since 1981. He has studied and practiced in the field of addictions and compulsive behaviour for over 20 years specialising in chemical dependencies and sexual compulsivity. From 1991-1998 he was the Programme Director of the Del Amo Hospital in California where he co-founded a treatment programme for problematic sexual behaviour with Dr. Patrick Carnes. Presently in private practice, he provides direct clinical and consultancy services to the aerospace industry and various medical associations, participates in forensic evaluations and expert court testifying. Mike holds a Masters of Science and Counselling Psychology from the University of Southern California, USA.

Steve Cooke is Chief Executive Officer of The Nelson Trust, a national registered charitable organisation offering treatment, education, vocational and resettlement programmes to people from all over the UK and Europe. He has 17 years experience in the management of drug and alcohol treatment services in both structured day treatment and residential rehabilitation settings, initially as a counsellor, then counselling team leader, manager and finally chief executive. Mr. Cooke has been involved in the development of EATA (European Association for the Treatment of Addiction) and is now a member of the executive committee. He has and MSc Counselling training and supervision from Bristol University and Management and Business training at Ashridge College.

Steven I. Lanzet is a Clinical Consultant at Life Works and has over 25 years experience of working in the counselling and addiction treatment field. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Advanced EMDR Practitioner. Steven was the Founder and Clinical Director of the Boise Counselling Centre where he developed innovative and successful treatment and consultation programmes for impaired professionals and other populations. He was Assistant Professor of Counsellor Education at Albertson College and held various positions with Albertson College, Boise State University, and the state of Idaho. He was the Director of the Planned Parenthood HIV Testing Programme and Social Services Director for the Idaho AIDS Foundation. He has also consulted with hospitals, non-profit organisations, and corporations throughout the Western United States to assist with organisational and human resource challenges. Steven was the Director of the Aftercare Programme for Impaired Physicians and other health care professionals in association with the Idaho Medical Association. Steven was the Clinical Director at Life Works for two years before returning to Idaho.
