Testimonials

"It has been an absolute pleasure. I know it sounds odd, but I feel I was mean't to be here. I couldn't do it on my own, I was lost and didn't know what to do, who I was or if I should continue, and now thanks to this amazing programme and the people involved, I can't wait to continue on my life's new journey"  Kelly, Eating Disorder

Struggling with an eating disorder can cause profound isolation, fear and hopelessness. Because this illness thrives in secret, people with anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating hide their behaviours from those closest to them, hoping that no one will notice whilst hoping that someone will.

In order to begin the process of recovery, secrecy must give way to self awareness and honesty, and this can only happen in a safe, structured and caring environment.

Our skilled and experienced counsellors understand and treat the full spectrum of issues that attend eating disorders. In addition to a thorough, personalised assessment, we include nutritional counselling, a Wellness Table for all meals, Shiatsu Stretch classes for gentle exercise, art and expressive therapies, family therapy, assignments that address perfectionism and distorted body image issues, a focus on relapse prevention, extensive aftercare planning and support and an overall holistic approach to treating this complex and often life-threatening illness.

If you feel alone, frightened and hopeless, please contact us. We are here to help.

There are a number of eating disorders which can have a serious and detrimental effect on individuals. An eating disorder is more likely to arise throughout earlier years of life and a number of underlying emotional difficulties are frequently the cause. One example of an eating disorder is anorexia which is where an individual wilfully restricts food to lose weight. This condition can sometimes be the cause of psychological thought patterns such as perfectionism or a fear of gaining weight. Another disorder related to eating is Bulimia Nervosa. The condition of bulimia involves excessive eating that is closely followed by intentional purging in order to prevent weight gain. Another for of an eating disorder is overeating. Overeaters often eat well beyond ones nutritional needs, often to medicate emotional pain, to the point of clinical obesity.
