Survey Reveals Most Men Hate Their Bodies

eating disorder in menA shocking new survey has found that only 4% of men are happy with their bodies and that most are feeling increasing pressure to improve their shape.

The research was carried out on behalf of Alpha Man Magazine and found that a staggering 82% of men feel more stressed about not having an impressive physique than they did five years ago. The findings also revealed that men are willing to resort to drastic measures to achieve their dream body.

69% of respondents said that they would give up alcohol forever in return for a perfect body and 30% even said that they would sacrifice a year of their lives if it meant having their ideal physique.

When it comes to the body parts they are most unhappy with, 50% of men said their beer bellies. This is followed by 14% who hate their chest and 10% their legs.

85% of those surveyed said that they have been on a diet and many also admitted to skipping meals in a bid to shed the pounds and wearing compression underwear because they feel so self-conscious.

A separate One Poll survey of British male adults also suggests that men are just as insecure about their bodies nowadays as women are. In fact, this particular research even showed that more women are confident about their bodies than men (37% compared to 35%).

The founder and Director of Men Get Eating Disorders Too, Sam Thomas commented:

“For the past 10 years, eating disorders in men have been steadily rising. There has been a 66% increase in the number of men being treated for eating disorders and approximately one quarter of all sufferers are now male.”
